So first let me say that all Team Beachbody Coaches are out to do the same thing, teach people how to life a healthy lifestyle and make a good living doing it.  What happens is some Coaches get together to make “Teams” of Coaches.  Does that make sense?  Almost like the NFL where everyone is playing football, but there are a bunch of different teams….so are there a bunch of different Teams of Beachbody Coaches.

The Teams are essentially based on the network marketing group that you join.  If you become a Team Beachbody Coach with say…Joe, then all downline coaches are on Joe’s “Team”.  Of course all the Coaches that you bring into the company are on your Team AND Joe’s Team.  It will also depend who you like, who you get along with well and who you partner with.  Maybe Joe has a bunch of people on his team, but you want to make your own team….that’s totally cool…you can do that too.

So I think if you have decided that you want to become a Team Beachbody Coach and you are looking for the right “Team” to be on, it’s going to boil down to…..do you like the people on that team….and are they successful at teaching new coaches what to do and how to build a Team Beachbody Business.

So, I think if I were trying to find a Team Beachbody….er….a….team to join, I’d ask things like

“What’s my first month look like?”

“Do you have a plan I can follow for the first two weeks?”

“Do you have a strategy that gets lots of people to look at my business?”

I think stuff like that will help you out when you are looking for a team to join.  You just want to make sure they are teaching you:

1. The mindset you must have to be successful in a network marketing company.

2. How to get lots of eyeballs on your business in the first 90 days (you’re going to need hundreds).

3. A plan that you can teach other people.

4. Multiple marketing strategies.

I think people get discouraged when they ask everyone they know to look at the business and they only get a couple takers, and they don’t do that great of a job.  You’ve really got to know how to get lots and lots of people to look at the business and products month after month to be successful.  Then you’ve got to be able to teach someone else how to do that, and so on.  So keep those things in mind when you are deciding on a good team to join, and if they can do those things for you, I think you’ve got a winner.

Ok, I’m going to be honest here….these network marketing businesses are trying to get you to buy stuff. Yep, there you go…I said it. I’m just being honest. But before you get all like “SEEE…..I KNEW THEY WERE TRYING TO RIP ME OFF!!” n stuff….let me explain a little bit.

Ok, so all network marketing companies are basically companies, with products, who are trying to have a successful business by selling their products. Pretty simple. They usually employ a marketing strategy that is based on people recommending products to their friends, and then those people getting a commission. It’s like paying for a TV ad, only a bit different. So when you become one of those people who register to sell the products for a commission, your “sponsor” or whatever you want to call it will usually recommend you BUY SOME STUFF. That’s where people start to get all weirded out.

“Ah…you are just trying to get me to buy stuff!” They will say. “I don’t’ want to buy anything, I just want to sell the stuff”. “Why do they require me to buy or sell x-dollars per month…they are trying to scam me!”. Sound familiar? Well there are a few REASONS you are asked to actually buy the products you are selling. First, if you don’t like the stuff you are selling, I mean…if you’re not a believer in the products….who the h@(( is going to buy anything from you? If you don’t like the stuff, that is going to permeate through to the person on the other end looking at the products. Not good for either one of you.

Second, it’s the marketers job to find people who are going to benefit from buying and using the products. Finding people who LIKE….no…who LOVE these products and are HAPPY to buy them. People who have their lives improved by using them.

Lastly, if you are REALLY COMMITTED to being successful in a network marketing company, it is your DUTY to buy the products. I know, you’re shocked I just said that. But, the second half of the strategy is finding people who like the products, who also want to sell the products….right? (By the way, this is really not the second half of the strategy…it’s like 99%….the 1% is just selling products to customers). So if you find someone who wants to sell the products, and also recruit other people to sell the products and they ask you “How much is this going to cost me?” and you follow with “Well, you have to pay the registration fee, but I’m not going to buy anything until I start making some money….so I don’t get scammed”. What do you think that person you just recruited is going to do? Yes…not buy anything until he “starts making money”. And when does that person (and you for that matter) start making money…..when they recommend the product to someone else, who likes it and buys it. (As a second BTW….people are really not buying the products…they are buying a result….which you….as someone they trust….say they will get with this particular product). So, if you recommend to other people not to buy anything…..they in turn will recommend to other people not to buy anything, and so on. Until you have a hole pile of people you have recruited who don’t buy anything because they are all scared they will never make any money with this business.

Does that make sense?

So, I guess I’m trying to say a couple things.

1. If you don’t like or believe in the product of your company…find another company with a different product you do believe in.
2. Buy and use your products. Get awesome results with your products. Show people what awesome results you can get with your products. Then tell people you recruit to make sure to do the same thing you do…which is buy and use the products how they were designed…..to get amazing results.

I’m not sure if you realize this or not, but I just gave you one of the biggest secrets of network marketing on the planet. Not everyone “gets” this. That’s why there are so many “scammed” people from network marketing companies. They never believe….because they never give it a chance. (Of course, the irony of the whole thing is they are really refusing to believe in themselves…..because if you decide and commit to a business, you will succeed as long as you believe in yourself and refuse to accept failure as an option.

So, I’ll leave you with one more piece of advise….go buy some stuff…and believe in yourself.

There is a monologue as the movie Casino Jack opens by Kevin Spacey.  He’s a lobbyist trying to talk himself into doing something he maybe shouldn’t…….I’ll let you watch the movie.  But he makes a good point.  He talks about how people often look at celebrities on TV, movies and magazines and tell themselves “Yea, that guy is just like me….hell, it could be me”…..but in reality, they are wrong.  Most of the time that celebrity they are staring at, did not accept mediocrity.   Sure, some celebrities are kind of born into it, but real self made superstars (whether they are celebrities or not) don’t just do a job 8-5 and go home never looking back.  These super-successful people despise mediocrity.  They refuse to accept a mediocre life, and they work day and night so they and their families do not have to live in mediocrity.

I thought this was a good topic for this post because it is so relevant to our business.  There are a lot of people who decide to “take a crack” at network marketing, only to be “scammed”.  Well, in reality, they were scammed by themselves.  They probably started out with a mediocre life, accepted it, and then expected a pot of gold to fall in their lap when they opened a network marketing business.  The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.  If you accept mediocrity, you WILL GET mediocrity.  If you do not accept it, eventually you will find yourself working so hard to avoid it you can’t help but succeed.

So I guess my point is…….the choice is an individual choice…..do you accept a mediocre life? If so, keep doing what you are doing.  If not…..I guess maybe you should change some things around a little bit.  To break out of “middle class” or mediocrity, you’ve got to do some serious work.  Day and night, night and day for a little while.  Sooner or later, you’ll break out.  But I think the only way someone can work like this is if they have  a serious passion for whatever it is they are doing.  If you hate your job, would you want to work day and night at it?  But if you love what you are doing, the time fly’s by like crazy…..and you CAN work night and day.

So….two take aways (these are for myself as well)….one, do not accept mediocrity.  Two, only involve yourself in a business in which you can be passionate about.  This way, you can break out of mediocrity….and it will seem fun!

Perception…it’s a funny thing. It can be your best friend or your worst enemy. If you perceive yourself as successful and helpful, you really don’t care what other people perceive you as, now do you? However, when other perceive you as destructive, and you DON’T….that can be a problem. So I guess the tip of the month (yea…ok, maybe 6 months…I’ve been slacking…I know), are two things. First, you SHOULD perceive yourself as a successful, charming, handsome and witty because you smile A LOT more if you do! Second, ask a few people you trust and admire some for some serious feedback on your best and worst attributes. Maybe they can provide some insight to things you do well (which you may or may not know) and things you don’t do so well (which can provide for some improvement).

So just take a little time this week to ask some people about their perceptions of you…..so maybe you can find some hidden weakness that you can easily correct. It’s like finding money in the dryer…..makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.

Oh yea….and go make 3 exposures a day for a week…..see what happens to your Team Beachbody Business!
